REVIEW: Vitacost Whey Protein Complex Chocolate

Posted by:

This is reviewing’s generic brand of protein Vitacost Whey Protein Complex w/ BCAA’s Chocolate flavor. Yesterday I positively reviewed Dymatize Elite XT Protein and this is the product I took before that.

Before Vitacost, I would get my Protein from costco which was manufactured by the creators of Muscle Milk. Over the course of 2 years, the 6lb bag at Costco had risen from $27.99 to $48.99 for the same EXACT product! Whey in general has gone up everywhere for the past 2 years but I just couldn’t keep paying more and more for the same product so I decided to branch out & find a better price.

After a lot of google searching online, I came to the conclusion that Vitacost’s protein came out to be the best deal I could find and that is the sole reason I chose it, they have positive reviews on their own website but I took that with a grain of salt. Vitacost also offers FREE SHIPPING when your purchase their brand of products and spend $25 or more, so another incentive for me to try them out.

My first sip was a disappointment, they have a very bland & boring taste…I’ll often look forward to my shakes and I honestly didn’t even want to finish this one. It doesn’t taste BAD but it there is definitely nothing good about it. I had trouble mixing the product from time to time getting a taste of those powder filled chunks that I hate. I felt it also left my teeth feeling dirty, wanting to brush my first chance.

Overall, I wouldn’t outright say this is a bad product. Its naturally flavored, with no artificial colors or flavors….you have 22g of protein per serving and very low sugar & fat. However, I can’t see myself ever purchasing it again. If you’re on a budget and your concern with taste is not extremely high then this may be a good option for you. I’d suggest spending a few extra bucks if you have it, and upgrading to a better protein.
