In early August 2014 Taylor Carpenter obtained an additional certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the Fitness Nutrition Specialist credential.
The NASM FNS course delivers evidence-based nutrition education so health and fitness professionals can better serve their clients.
Developed in partnership with NASM’s strategic partner, Jones & Bartlett Learning (JBL) and leading registered dietitians, the FNS provides the advanced knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully work with clients seeking basic nutritional guidance.
“It’s estimated that by the year 2030, approximately 50 percent of the U.S. population will be obese. With this alarming trend in place, it’s no surprise that a nutrition-based specialization has been the most requested credential for us to develop.” says NASM CEO Dr. Mike Clark.
The course reflects research and teaching expertise from top institutions including Stanford, California Institute of Human Nutrition, University of Southern California, University of Pennsylvania, Purdue and the University of Massachusetts, among others.
Taylor Carpenter has now earned the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) certifications.
