Just finished reading a Lyle McDonald article on metabolic damage (metabolism slowing down as a result of dieting/stressors/excessive cardio/etc)
Lyle’s a well respected fitness name, with a website filled with scientific fact based info on dieting/exercise/etc.
This article I would say pertains more to woman but can apply to men in a number of ways as well.
Feeling leaner but scale weight is stuck and/or rising? This article says your body is still burning off fat but water retention may be to blame. “Not a single study exists showing truly stopped fat loss in the face of a controlled deficit (calories in/calories out) much less fat regain.”
Pay attention to the info on cortisol and leptin as they are main contributing factor to what you may have experienced presently or in the past. Management of stress levels.
Binge eating/under reporting calorie intake is also gone over in this article.
A 10 minute read but should be an easy read for anyone to understand. A little profanity and semi-offensive attempt at humor in the linked article but felt the overall content was directly relative to some conversations I’ve had with a few clients I’ve had over the past month or so.Share
