DRINK WATER! If you are looking for a place to start with your new diet, then water needs to be at the top of your list. On average a person should drink approximately 8-12 cups of water.  There are a variety of factors that would require a higher consumption such as being in warm climates or engaging in intense physical activity.

I’ve heard many people make the excuse that water simply doesn’t taste as good as soda’s, sweet tea, juice, etc…I personally think you can acquire a taste for ice cold water. If you cannot get excited about the taste then you may want to consider the flavor packets. Majority (if not 100%) are artificially sweetened, so be warned .

There are many benefits to drinking adequate amounts of water, including: improved metabolism, decrease in appetite, distribution of nutrients, body temperature regulation, and replenish water loss (sweat, urine),. A quick google search of “water benefits” will provide a larger list of many additional perks.

Replacing soda & sweet tea with water was the first step I made when deciding to change my diet and slim down In a single action I eliminated nearly all the sugar in my diet and was reaping the healthy and functional rewards of my proper water intake levels. If you have a lot of errors in your diet I suggest attacking one thing at a time. Creating smaller goals has been the best method for success in my experience.
