All of the lights, All of the lights!

I recently became a “Corrective Exercise Specialist” and the course I went through was by far the most difficult I’ve experienced this far. I wanted to explain the Corrective Exercise techniques briefly and how they pertain to various goals. I will go ahead and say majority of my personal training clients will strive to burn fat, build muscle, or increase performance.

The best comparison I can make that makes the most since when explaining these strategies is to relate your ...

Push Push Push

Posted by:

A client of mine sent me a txt last week, she had just done 5 real pushups for the first time in her life. When I started training her, she had never worked out before. She had some athletic experience with recreational tennis but when she came to me knee pushups were not even an option….the upper body strength just wasn’t there. Her enthusiasm inspired me to write about pushups.

This is a great exercise to routinely monitor the progress of ...

Custom Made Orthotics, For Free?

The Nervous, Skeletal, Muscular systems (also known as the Kinetic Chain) should all work together to provide proper balance, movement patterns, proper gait motion, etc…if working as designed. The foot/ankle complex, the knee, hip, core, shoulders, and neck all work synergistically, and if any of these are not operating properly that is when compensations, muscle imbalance, pain, and eventually injury may occur. As a personal trainer, it is my job to identify those issues and correct them (currently studying for ...

Sharecare.com is a very informative health related website that I believe was started by Dr.Oz, Oprah’s doctor…He gives advice on this site but also there are hundreds of Fitness Experts to answer your questions and the National Academy of Sports Medicine also has an active profile on here. It’s basically an extensive F.A.Q. page, you type in your question at the top and you are then sent to a page that may answer your specific question or at the very ...

Don’t have time? Make it!

Posted by:

One of the most common excuses I hear regarding both exercise and eating properly is “I don’t have enough time“. That may be a valid excuse in a few scenarios but most people simply don’t make the time. It may help you to write a rough schedule of how you need your day/week to go to get your priorities straight. Over the past few years I have become a master of multitasking, and you must learn that art and implement ...

Gut Flora?

You can find many articles online about fat loss but they primarily regurgitate the same info. I like to find things that I haven’t read a billion times and I believe this article presents a slightly different perspective.

Towards the bottom, they provide a few tips which I would agree with in implementing a new diet. They stress the importance of increased fiber and consuming fish oils…people fear the term “fat” but fish oil is essential in any diet, you NEED ...

DRINK WATER! If you are looking for a place to start with your new diet, then water needs to be at the top of your list. On average a person should drink approximately 8-12 cups of water.  There are a variety of factors that would require a higher consumption such as being in warm climates or engaging in intense physical activity.

I’ve heard many people make the excuse that water simply doesn’t taste as good as soda’s, sweet tea, juice, etc…I ...
